Crypto Market Performance

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization currently stands at $2.35 trillion, with BTC accounting for 58.2%, or $1.37 trillion. The total stablecoin market capitalization is $315.7 billion, up 0.06% over the past 7 days, with USDT accounting for 58.29% of the total.
Among the top 200 projects on CoinMarketCap, most posted declines, with only a small number recording gains. Over the past 7 days: BTC fell 3.28%, ETH rose 3.8%, SOL fell 3.95%, while M and DEXE gained 22.36% and 18.05%, respectively.
This week, US Bitcoin spot ETFs saw net outflows of $287.8 million, while Ethereum spot ETFs recorded net outflows of $206 million.
Market Forecast (March 30 - April 5):
The RSI stands at 44.07 (neutral, trending lower compared to last week), the Fear & Greed Index is 14 (extreme fear), and the Altcoin Season Index is 49 (neutral).
BTC: $66,000-72,500 (range-bound; a breakout would likely require a macro catalyst)
ETH: $1,950-2,300 (relatively weak trend persists)
SOL: $82-92 (instability driven by an imbalanced long/short ratio)
Main Risks
  1. Geopolitical tail risk: A breakdown in U.S.–Iran negotiations could drive oil prices higher, reinforce inflation expectations, and put pressure on risk assets.
  2. Long squeeze risk: Assets such as SOL, where long/short positioning is heavily skewed, may face cascading liquidations in the event of a downturn.
  3. ETF flow reversal risk: Continued net outflows from Bitcoin ETFs could weaken one of the market’s key sources of support.

Understanding the Present

Weekly Recap

  • Geopolitical Risks Trigger a Crypto Market Pullback; Bitcoin Falls Below $69,000
The crypto market experienced a sharp correction this week. Bitcoin dropped below $69,000 on March 26, declining more than 3% from its recent high. Ethereum, SOL, and other major altcoins also fell by 4%-5%.
The core catalyst was escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran. According to The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. may consider deploying 10,000 ground troops to the Middle East. Meanwhile, Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook stated that “due to the Iran war, inflation risks are higher.” This has directly altered market expectations for the interest rate path — the probability of rate cuts that the market had anticipated prior to a potential Middle East conflict is now declining.
Spillover effects were also evident in traditional markets: the Nasdaq has declined more than 10% from its peak, entering correction territory, while oil prices have risen above $92 per barrel.
  • Over $300 Million in Long Liquidations; Sentiment Drops to Extreme Fear.
As the market declined, total liquidations reached $329.5 million within 24 hours. Of this, $287.1 million came from long positions, compared to $42.4 million from short positions, indicating a clear long-side liquidation dominance.
The CoinMarketCap Fear & Greed Index stood at 29 (extreme fear) on March 27, a slight increase from the previous day but still at a low level. Data from Alternative.me shows that the index once touched an extreme level of 10.
  • $14 Billion Bitcoin Options Expiry: Max Pain Level Emerges as a Price Magnet
On March 27, Bitcoin saw one of the largest options expiries in history, with approximately $14 billion in notional value, representing a significant share of total open interest.
Market analysis suggests that institutional investors had previously sold a substantial volume of call options to capture premium in a weak market environment. As a result, market makers maintained hedged positions through dynamic rebalancing, effectively anchoring prices around the max pain level (~$75,000) — the level at which the largest number of options expire worthless.
With the expiry now completed, this hedging-driven stabilizing force is likely to fade, potentially giving way to increased volatility driven by geopolitical factors.
  • AI Sector Suffers Heavy Losses, Nearly 8% in a Single Day, Worldcoin Leads the Decline
Amid the overall market correction, the AI concept sector was hit hardest. According to SoSoValue data, the AI sector fell 7.96% in 24 hours. Among them:
  • Siren (SIREN) fell 29.88%
  • Kite (KITE) fell 16.6%
  • Worldcoin (WLD) fell 8.81%, breaking below $0.30.
Additionally, the transfer of 89.65 million WLD (worth approximately $26.17 million) to a new address—followed by movements toward centralized exchanges—has raised concerns about potential sell pressure.
ENA also fell below the key psychological level of $0.10, indicating a bearish technical structure.
  • Nvidia Faces Class-Action Suit Over $1B in Crypto GPU Revenue
On March 25, a U.S. federal judge granted class certification in a lawsuit against Nvidia, alleging that the company concealed more than $1 billion in GPU sales revenue from crypto miners between August 2017 and November 2018, misclassifying it as revenue from its “gaming” segment.
Court filings show that after the truth began to emerge in 2018, Nvidia’s stock fell 28.5% within two days. The case has been ongoing for years, with the Supreme Court of the United States declining to hear Nvidia’s appeal in December 2024, clearing the way for the case to proceed.
  • UK Advances Temporary Ban on Crypto Political Donations
The UK government formally advanced a temporary ban on crypto-political donations on March 25. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced during a House of Commons question session: "We will act decisively to protect democracy, including suspending all political donations made through cryptocurrencies."
This ban stems from an independent investigation by the Rycroft Review into foreign financial interference in the UK political system. According to the proposed legislation, the ban will be retroactive to March 25, and existing political parties and candidates must return any crypto donations received within 30 days.
Ironically, Reform UK became the first British political party to accept crypto donations in May 2025, with its leader Nigel Farage announcing support for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies at a Bitcoin conference in Las Vegas.
  • Regulatory Updates: U.S. Senator Says Crypto Market Structure Bill Gains Bipartisan Support
Positive signals are emerging from the regulatory front. U.S. Senator Tim Scott stated that the crypto market structure bill has secured bipartisan support, with industry alignment now seen as the final hurdle to its passage.
Meanwhile, U.S. regulators have raised concerns with payment companies such as Visa over “de-banking” practices; Coinbase’s policy head has called on lawmakers to reform cryptocurrency tax rules; and lawmakers have also pressed the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City for details on the approval of Kraken’s master account.
  • LayerZero Integrates with Canton Network, Enabling Cross-Chain Transfers of Traditional Financial Assets
The cross-chain protocol LayerZero integrated with the institutional-grade blockchain Canton Network this week, marking a meaningful step forward in the convergence of DeFi and traditional finance.
Developed by Digital Asset, Canton Network is designed to support on-chain interactions among regulated financial institutions. The integration enables the LayerZero ecosystem to facilitate cross-chain transfers of traditional financial assets, providing the infrastructure for use cases such as compliant stablecoins and tokenized bonds.
  • Altcoin Divergence: KAT Surges 38% Against the Trend, Highlighting the Korean Exchange Effect
Amid a broad market downturn, the Katana (KAT) token surged more than 38% on March 26, reaching $0.0148, with trading volume climbing to $297 million.
The move was driven by the Korean market: the token was simultaneously listed on major local exchanges, including Upbit and Bithumb, with trading pairs denominated in KRW, BTC, and USDT. The event underscores the strength of the “Korean exchange listing effect,” which can drive independent price action even in broader market weakness.

Macroeconomic Data

  • On March 26, U.S. initial jobless claims for the week ending March 21 came in at 210,000, in line with expectations and slightly above the prior reading of 205,000.
  • On March 27, the final March reading of the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index came in at 53.3, below the forecast of 54.
  • On March 26, according to CME Group FedWatch data, the probability of a 25 basis point rate hike by the Federal Reserve in April stands at 6.2%, while the probability of rates remaining unchanged is 93.8%.

According to statistics, from March 23 to March 27, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows of $287.8 million. As of March 27, Grayscale’s GBTC has seen cumulative net outflows of $25.964 billion and currently holds $10.208 billion in assets, while BlackRock’s IBIT holds $51.844 billion. The total assets under management (AUM) of U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs stand at $87.909 billion.
